Use your own domain

Buy a domain (Hostinger takes Naira cards and OPay), point it at your shop, and HTTPS is set up for you.

Your shop and your dashboard can live on a domain you own — shop.yourbusiness.com or yourbusiness.com — instead of yourname.weselling.store. The HTTPS certificate, the padlock in the address bar, is issued and renewed for you, free. Your WeSelling address keeps working alongside it, so nothing you have already printed or shared breaks.

Tip Rather not do it alone? Message us from Get help and we will walk you through it on chat, one step at a time — from buying the domain to seeing your shop on it.

What you need

  • A domain name. If you do not have one yet, the next section shows how to buy one and pay in Naira.
  • A plan that includes it. Your web address says so if yours does not.
  • To be the business owner on WeSelling, and able to sign in wherever the domain is managed.
  • About ten minutes, plus a short wait while the records spread.

Buy a domain (Hostinger, in Naira)

Any registrar works. We recommend Hostinger for businesses in Nigeria: its Nigerian store charges in Naira and accepts Visa and Mastercard cards and OPay.

  1. Open Hostinger's Nigerian store

Go to hostinger.com/ng and search for the name you want.

  2. Pick the name carefully

Short, and easy to say over the phone. A .com is the safe choice. Check the spelling before you pay — a domain cannot be renamed, only replaced.

  3. Pay with a Naira card or OPay

Choose it at checkout. Hostinger lists everything it accepts on its payment methods page.

  4. Find it in hPanel

hPanel is Hostinger's dashboard; your new domain is under Domains. Leave its nameservers as Hostinger's — that is what lets you add records there.

Note A domain is paid for by the year. Turn on auto-renewal at Hostinger if your payment method allows it, or set yourself a reminder: if the domain expires, your shop stops opening on it until it is renewed. Your WeSelling address keeps working the whole time.

Choose the address

AddressExampleUse it when
A subdomainshop.yourbusiness.comYou have, or may later want, another website or email on the domain. The simplest to set up.
The whole domainyourbusiness.comYour shop is your whole website.

Both work the same once connected. One domain at a time — and with the whole domain, www.yourbusiness.com is a different address, so give customers the one you connected.

Add it in WeSelling

  1. Open Your web address

In your dashboard go to Subscription → Your web address.

  2. Type the domain

Under Your own domain, type it — for example shop.yourbusiness.com — and press Add domain.

  3. Keep the page open

It now shows the two records to add, each with a copy button.

Add the records at Hostinger

In hPanel, go to Domains, click Manage next to your domain, then DNS / Nameservers. Add each record below with Add Record. Hostinger's own guides: managing DNS records and pointing a subdomain to another server.

In the Name field, type only the part before your domain — Hostinger adds the domain itself. Leave TTL as it is.

For a subdomain, like shop.yourbusiness.com

CNAMEshopYour WeSelling address, e.g. yourname.weselling.store

For the whole domain, like yourbusiness.com

TXT_weselling-verifyThe token from Your web address (starts with weselling-verify=)
A@The server address shown on Your web address
Delete the old @ records first A new Hostinger domain usually comes with an A record for @ that points at Hostinger's parking page. Delete every A and AAAA record whose name is @ before adding yours. If two addresses answer for the domain, the certificate cannot be issued.

Verify, then give it a few minutes

  1. Press Verify now

Back on Your web address. If it says no record was found yet, wait a few minutes and press it again — records usually appear within minutes, though Hostinger allows up to 24 hours.

  2. Let it secure itself

Once verified, the page says it is securing your domain with HTTPS. A few minutes after the domain points here it turns to live with HTTPS. The page refreshes on its own; you do not need to do anything.

  3. Open your domain

From now on your receipts, emails and links use it too. You can sign in to your dashboard on it as well — sign in once there, like on any new address.

If it does not go live

Your web address always shows the latest finding in plain words. The usual ones:

The page saysWhat to do
No TXT record found yetCheck the TXT name is exactly as in the table above, then wait a few minutes and verify again.
Found a TXT record, but it does not matchCopy the value again with the copy button — all of it.
Does not reach WeSelling yet — it points at …The CNAME or A record is missing or wrong, or an old A or AAAA record is still there. Delete the old one.
No DNS record found yetThe CNAME or A record has not been added, or has not spread yet.
The certificate authority could not confirm the domainAlmost always the same DNS problem. Fix the record; it retries by itself.

Your DNS on Cloudflare rather than Hostinger? Set the record to DNS only (grey cloud) until it shows as live. Still stuck? Message us with the domain and what the page says, and we will sort it out with you.

Change or remove it

Press Remove on Your web address and everything goes straight back to your WeSelling address. To move to a different domain, type the new one and press Change domain; it is verified afresh. A business can connect up to five domains a day.
